Crises Within the U.S. Democratic Party: Internal Conflict and Future Challenges

Chas Pravdy - 04 November 2025 00:36

The United States is witnessing intensifying internal turmoil within the Democratic Party, which is currently facing a significant crisis marked by the absence of a unifying leader and escalating internal divisions.

A year after their defeat to Donald Trump, the party finds itself in a deep crisis of discord, conflicts, and growing dissatisfaction among its electorate.

As the country gears up for the upcoming midterm elections, the Democratic Party appears fragmented and demoralized, posing risks to its electoral success.

Nationwide, protest movements like ‘No Kings’ have emerged, voicing opposition to the authoritarian tendencies of the Trump administration, while a rising wave of youth-led protests challenge the party’s aging establishment figures such as Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer.

An internal rebellion among young activists and new candidates is gaining momentum, demanding generational change and shifting priorities—ranging from affordable housing and modern transportation to healthcare reform.

Former Hillary Clinton campaign adviser and activist Amanda Litman emphasizes that senior leaders are losing touch with the mood of the base and must make way for new faces capable of reflecting contemporary voter expectations.

As part of this shift, the organization ‘Run for Something’ has received over 72,000 applications from young hopefuls eager to participate in elections and reshape the political landscape.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump’s approval ratings have hit historic lows in his second term, according to the latest CNN/SSRS poll from November 3, showing only 37% approval while 63% disapprove, indicating a brewing political crisis and uncertain future for his administration.
