Affordable Housing for Railway Workers: Expansion of ‘єОселя’ Program to Support Displaced Families

Chas Pravdy - 04 November 2025 18:39

Ukraine has taken a significant step in improving living conditions for its railway sector employees by announcing the expansion of the subsidized mortgage program ‘єОселя’.

Under the new terms, a portion of the housing purchase costs will be covered by the state, with Ukrzaliznytsia participating in funding.

This initiative will enable railway workers, forced to leave their homes due to the ongoing war, to access preferential loans for purchasing housing.

According to Vice Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba, government support includes covering the costs of document processing and 70% of the initial deposit, while Ukrzaliznytsia will contribute an additional 20%.

The maximum property value under these conditions will be up to two million hryvnias, with the initial payment capped at 60,000 hryvnias.

The first family to receive the housing voucher was a railway worker’s family from Poltava region, whose home was destroyed by Russian forces.

The program is expected to assist at least 100 families by the end of the year.

It is also noted that the government will partially subsidize monthly payments for the first year, while Ukrzaliznytsia will cover these payments over the next three years.

This support provides critical assistance for employees who had to evacuate their homes because of military actions.
