Ukrainian Pensioners Must Complete Physical Identification by November 1, 2025: Critical Deadline for Social Benefits

Chas Pravdy - 02 November 2025 06:22

An important procedure is currently underway for Ukrainian pensioners temporarily residing abroad: completing physical identification.

According to the Main Department of the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU) in Zaporizhzhia region, all individuals receiving pensions and other social benefits while living outside the country are required to undergo this process by the stipulated deadline — November 1, 2025.

This deadline is crucial, as it serves as the final date to verify identity and ensure the continuation of benefit payments, which are transferred to accounts in Ukrainian banks.

According to Article 47-1 of the Law on Mandatory State Pension Insurance, these requirements are mandatory not only for pensioners but also for recipients of various state aids.

The year 2025 has seen an increase in the number of recipients of state payments and pensions, along with larger payment amounts, reflecting a positive trend.

However, this growth does not necessarily translate into significant improvements within the social security system.

Given the ongoing economic and health challenges, the issue of pension provision in Ukraine remains a topical and pressing matter.

For an in-depth analysis of the current state of pension reforms, their problems, and prospects, readers can refer to Viktor Konev’s article, ‘Pension Report: Old and New Problems of Pensioners,’ published on ZN.UA, which critically examines administrative shortcomings and strategic challenges facing Ukrainian social security.
