Growing Political Crisis in the USA: Who Is Responsible for the Shutdown?
The United States is currently experiencing a significant political crisis triggered by the prolonged government shutdown, which has now lasted over a month.
Recent polls indicate that a majority of Americans believe that President Donald Trump and the Republican Party bear the primary responsibility for this situation, with less blame directed at Democrats.
According to the Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos survey, approximately 45% of respondents think that Republicans are the main culprits behind the ongoing difficulties, including flight delays, hunger relief aid suspensions, and mass federal employee layoffs.
Meanwhile, the percentage blaming Democrats has increased from 30% to 33%.
Overall, among registered voters, 37% blame the Democrats, while 46% blame the Republicans.
Public concern about the shutdown is also rising: over three-quarters of adults report being somewhat or very concerned, with 43% stating they are ‘very’ concerned today—up from 25% at the start of the shutdown.
This situation reflects a growing distrust towards the Trump administration’s management, with over 63% of Americans disapproving of federal government operations, a significant increase from previous months.
The political blame game continues along party lines: most Democrats believe Trump and the Republicans are chiefly responsible, while a substantial portion of independents blame them as well—about two-thirds of respondents assign responsibility to the GOP.
The escalation of this crisis is deepening political tensions, fueling uncertainty and threatening the stability of U.S.
governance.
