How Ukrainians Abroad Can Undergo Identification for Pension and Social Benefits Payments
In light of current challenges and the consequences of the full-scale invasion against Ukraine, many compatriots have found themselves abroad due to forced displacement or the search for safer refuge.
Nevertheless, Ukrainian citizens residing outside the country continue to have the right to receive pensions and other social benefits that ensure their financial stability and decent quality of life.
To facilitate this process, government agencies have introduced specific mechanisms for identity verification.
The Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU) explained that individuals temporarily residing outside Ukraine can undergo physical identification through several methods.
One option is authorization via their personal electronic account on the PFU web portal using the ‘Diia Sign’ electronic signature created through the ‘Diia’ mobile app.
Another method is confirming identity via a video conference with PFU representatives, complying with legal requirements.
A third method involves sending documents confirming the person’s alive status via registered mail or with declared value, along with a written application for continued pension and benefit payments.
It is crucial that those living outside Ukraine or temporarily on the occupied territories notify the PFU about any non-receipt of pensions or social payments from Russia.
This ensures transparency and timely social benefit payments even when abroad.
