Former Ukrainian Supreme Court Judge Faces Bail of 20 Million Hryvnias and Allegations of Russian Ties

Chas Pravdy - 29 October 2025 19:27

Former judge of Ukraine’s Supreme Court, Bohdan Lvov, previously serving in the Cassation Commercial Court and holding significant influence in the country’s judicial system, has been set a bail of 20 million hryvnias.

This decision follows the discovery of a Russian passport in his documents, which he confirmed in 2012, although the passport remains officially not in the register of invalid documents.

The ruling is a crucial part of the investigation led by the High Anti-Corruption Court, which suspects him of assisting in transferring ownership of the ‘Samara-Western Direction’ oil pipeline to a Russian company.

Lvov is required to appear at every law enforcement request, report any change of residence, refrain from communication with certain individuals, and surrender his foreign passports under electronic surveillance.

Despite attempts to reinstate his judicial career after his dismissal in 2022, he was denied in June 2024.

Additionally, he has been associated with criminal cases pointing towards serious allegations of involvement in critical national infrastructure, specifically the ownership transfer of the oil pipeline connected to Russia.
