How to Secure Your Pension Payments in 2026: Essential Steps for Ukrainian Pensioners
Ukraine continues to provide its citizens with pensions and social benefits, but in light of recent reforms and changes, it is crucial for pensioners to understand how to avoid losing their entitlements in 2026.
According to the Main Department of the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU) in Luhansk region, a clear identification process has been established to ensure uninterrupted pension payments.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved Resolution No.
299, which defines the procedure for issuing pensions and insurance benefits to Ukrainians residing temporarily abroad, on temporarily occupied territories, or who have left occupied areas and now live under Ukrainian control.
It is imperative that all pensioners complete their biometric identification by the end of 2023, otherwise they risk suspension of their payments.
The Pension Fund offers several ways to verify identity: personal visits to service centers or banks where pension payments are received; online authorization through the PFU’s portal using a qualified electronic signature (KЭП) or “Diia.Підпис”; or via video conference, during which the individual must present a valid identity document, in accordance with legislation.
Additionally, pensioners must inform the Main Department about any inability to receive pension payments from Russian authorities or other sources.
Familiarizing oneself with the procedures for completing identification is essential to prevent issues and ensure continued access to social benefits.
