Time Change in Ukraine: How to Correctly Determine the Time After the Switch to Winter Time

Chas Pravdy - 26 October 2025 06:23

Following Ukraine’s recent transition to winter time, many citizens are left wondering how to accurately determine the current time on their devices and ensure that their clocks are correctly set.

The switch to winter time took place during the night from Saturday to Sunday, when the clock hands were turned back by an hour at 4 a.m.

Most modern gadgets such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, and other electronic devices automatically update the time if they are connected to the Internet.

However, if the update has not occurred, there are several ways to verify the accurate time.

The simplest way is to use a search engine like Google or any other platform by entering queries like “accurate time Ukraine” or “time in Kyiv.” The search results will display the most precise current time.

Additionally, online clocks or mobile applications can also be used, many of which update automatically or can be set to do so.

For landline users, calling the number 121 allows obtaining the current official time at any moment.

It is worth noting that in July 2024, the Verkhovna Rada approved Bill No.

4201 on the abolition of daylight saving time, but the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has not yet signed the bill, meaning the transition to winter time remains in effect for now.
