United Kingdom Appoints New Ambassador to Ukraine: Neil Crompton Replaces Martin Harris
The UK government officially announced the appointment of a new His Majesty’s Ambassador to Ukraine.
The highly qualified and experienced diplomat Neil Crompton has been selected for this important diplomatic position.
He is expected to commence his duties in Kyiv shortly, marking a significant step in strengthening bilateral relations between the United Kingdom and Ukraine.
The announcement was made on October 22 on the official government website.
This appointment comes at a crucial time amid ongoing international efforts to support Ukraine during these challenging times.
Additionally, the UK, France, and Germany have agreed to utilize frozen assets of Russia to support Ukraine’s economy and defense sector, reflecting increased international solidarity and firm stance against aggression.
Neil Crompton, who has been honored with the Order of the British Empire, was appointed to succeed Martin Harris, who is transitioning to another senior diplomatic role.
His previous experience includes serving as ambassador to Saudi Arabia from 2020 to 2025 and leading the Middle East and North Africa directorate from 2015 to 2019.
In 2014, during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Crompton headed the UK Foreign Office department responsible for Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
His diplomatic career began in 1995, and since then he has gained extensive experience representing UK interests abroad.
This appointment underscores the deepening of strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United Kingdom, reflecting their commitment to mutual support and international cooperation during turbulent times.
