Pregnancy and Business Trips: Legal Restrictions for Ukrainian Female Employees

Chas Pravdy - 17 October 2025 02:26

In the context of labor relations in Ukraine, it is crucial to understand the legislative restrictions regarding business trips for employees, especially for pregnant women.

Legislation explicitly prohibits sending pregnant women on business trips, as stipulated in Article 176 of the Labor Code of Ukraine.

This rule applies both during peacetime and under martial law, taking into account bans on involving workers in overtime, weekend work, and other forms of extended working hours.

Therefore, employers are legally obliged to refrain from sending pregnant employees on official business trips to avoid potential legal consequences.

Meanwhile, during the state of martial law, Ukrainian employers can obtain compensation for expenses related to employment of internally displaced persons, including those hired under labor contracts or part-time work, which supports economic stability.

It is important to emphasize that laws provide comprehensive measures to protect employees’ rights in challenging conditions, and compliance with these norms is mandatory for employers to avoid legal sanctions and to maintain their reputation.
