Changes in Social Support System for Ukrainians in Poland: What to Expect from New Regulations Starting 2026

Chas Pravdy - 17 October 2025 05:26

Amid a significant wave of Ukrainian migration to Poland due to Russia’s full-scale invasion, the country is implementing new rules for social benefits for Ukrainian migrants.

Over 800 Ukrainians have already benefited from child support under the 800+ program.

However, from 2026 onwards, substantial changes will be introduced to the social support system.

Poland’s Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) announced plans to strengthen control measures for beneficiaries, including requirements to prove not only residence but also employment status.

Under this new policy, Ukrainians will need to monthly confirm that they earn at least 50% of the minimum wage — 2,333 zł gross in 2025.

This will enable automatic verification, with information on income and residence obtained through government registers.

These changes will take effect in February 2026 for Ukrainian recipients and in June for other foreigners.

Additionally, proof of employment may require submitting additional documentation, complicating the process but making it easier to detect job loss or departure from the country.

It is also noteworthy that Poland has approved a new bill aimed at supporting Ukrainian refugees, which will facilitate their social integration and security.
