U.S. Senate Rejects Budget Bill for the Ninth Time: Political Deadlock Continues

Chas Pravdy - 16 October 2025 02:23

The situation regarding temporary government funding in the United States has remained tense for over two weeks.

On Wednesday, the U.S.

Senate rejected once again a bill passed by the House of Representatives aimed at extending government funding until the end of November.

This was the ninth consecutive failure of the measure, further complicating the functioning of government agencies.

The vote ended with 51 senators opposing and 44 supporting, falling short of the required 60 votes needed for passage.

Notably, two Democrats and one independent senator supported the Republicans, while Rand Paul remained the only Republican voting against.

The session took place on the 15th day of partial government shutdown, with no signs of progress toward a compromise.

According to American media, the situation is escalating, with more Americans blaming Democrats for the deadlock.

Democrats insist on urgently extending subsidies for health insurance, which expire at the end of the month, while Republicans state these issues will only be discussed after government resumes full operation.

The continued failures in voting push the chances of a swift resolution further away, risking further partial paralysis of the U.S.

government in the coming days and weeks.
