Moldovan Constitutional Court confirms legitimacy of 2025 parliamentary elections

The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova officially affirmed the results of the parliamentary elections held on September 28, 2025.

This decision was made on October 16 and is final, signifying the recognition of elected deputies and the approval of their mandates.

As a result of this ruling, all political forces that participated in the elections secured their seats in the country’s legislative body according to the election outcomes.Representatives of the Central Electoral Commission, the «Dignity and Solidarity» party, and «Democracy at Home» demanded confirmation of the election results.

Meanwhile, the Patriotic Bloc urged the Constitutional Court not to recognize the election outcomes.

After over three hours of deliberation, the judges decided in favor of confirming the results.Chairwoman of the Constitutional Court, Domnica Manole, announced: “The results of the parliamentary elections on September 28, 2025, are confirmed, and the mandates of the elected deputies are confirmed.” This decision is final and cannot be appealed, taking effect immediately.

According to Moldovan legislation, a new Parliament must be convened by the head of state within 30 days after the elections.

Subsequently, the first sessions are organized, and parliamentary factions are formed.Based on the election results, the «Dignity and Solidarity» party received the most mandates — 55, followed by the Patriotic Bloc with 26, the «Alternative» bloc with 8, and both «Our Party» and «Democracy at Home» with 6 mandates each.

The law states that after the results are confirmed, the newly elected Parliament is to be assembled within a day by the president, initiating the process of government formation and state institution establishment, crucial steps towards political stabilization.Earlier, Igor Grosu, head of the «Dignity and Solidarity» party, announced that Alexander Muntianu would be the candidate for the position of Prime Minister.

Muntianu has spent a significant part of his career in Ukraine, which adds a layer of international interest to the upcoming government formation.
