Zelensky Signs Decree Concerning Individuals with Confirmed Russian Citizenship

Chas Pravdy - 14 October 2025 15:21

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the signing of a decree related to individuals found to possess Russian citizenship.

Although he did not specify names, sources report that the decision involves several persons, with official documents already drafted regarding them.

In a social media statement, the head of state noted: “Following verification, certain individuals have confirmed Russian citizenship — appropriate measures have been prepared and signed for them.” Details of the decree remain undisclosed, and the Office of the President has yet to comment.

This move follows a petition submitted a few days ago by a Ukrainian citizen demanding the cessation of Odessa mayor Gennady Trukhanov’s Ukrainian citizenship.

The petition, which collected over 25,000 signatures, was forwarded for presidential consideration.

The petition’s author argued that there is evidence suggesting that Trukhanov may hold Russian citizenship, a claim he firmly denies.
