Lukashenko expressed readiness for major negotiations with the US and emphasized Ukraine’s independence
Amid recent statements by Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko, discussions about his intentions concerning regional security are becoming increasingly relevant.
Lukashenko, long associated with a firm stance on Belarusian sovereignty, has in recent comments shown a desire for comprehensive negotiations with the United States, affirming that Belarus is prepared to conclude a ‘big deal’ on mutually beneficial terms, taking into account both sides’ interests.
He stressed that the country’s policies should be built solely in its own interests and called for constructive dialogue with the US that respects the propositions of all parties involved.
At the same time, Lukashenko underscored the importance of Ukraine’s independence, considering it a sovereign and peaceful state that should not pose threats to others.
He declared that conflict resolution in Ukraine is only possible through peaceful negotiations and diplomatic means.
Lukashenko also supported Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelensky’s policy of seeking peaceful settlement and avoiding escalation.
Regarding relations with Russia, the Belarusian leader mentioned recent meetings with Vladimir Putin, indicating a shared desire to establish peace, warning that nuclear weapons are not the answer to conflicts and only increase risks of global catastrophe.
These statements come amidst diplomatic contacts with Chicago, including visits by Trump’s special envoy and discussions on potential military supplies.
Amid high tensions in international relations, Lukashenko urged for prudent approaches, emphasizing that security and stability require diplomacy, not military solutions.
