Macron Affirms Commitment to Remaining in Office Amid France’s Political Crisis

Chas Pravdy - 13 October 2025 15:20

French President Emmanuel Macron has publicly declared that he has no intention of stepping down before the end of his term.

This statement comes amid a deep political crisis gripping France over recent months, characterized by the resignation of three prime ministers in quick succession due to disagreements over budget and reform policies.

Despite mounting calls from opposition parties for his early departure, Macron emphasized his responsibility to ensure stability and continuity of governance, with his term set to conclude in 2027.

In his speech, he reiterated that presidential power is a form of service to the people, and expressed his determination to continue in his role.

The current political turbulence reflects the most severe challenge to France’s stability in decades, marked by a crisis of trust, factional rivalries, and parliamentary deadlock that hamper effective decision-making.
