Key Political Figures in Ukraine: Who Remains Popular Among Citizens Ahead of Elections

Chas Pravdy - 13 October 2025 14:20

Recent polls conducted between October 1 and 3, involving over 1,200 Ukrainian respondents, reveal intriguing insights into the potential leaders of the upcoming presidential elections in the country.

It appears that Volodymyr Zaluzhny and Valerii Budanov enjoy significantly higher support compared to the current president, Volodymyr Zelensky.

According to the survey, 42.6% of those interviewed would be willing to vote for Zaluzhny, whereas only 26.3% would support Zelensky.

This indicates a high level of trust in the military leader, especially given his role in defending the nation.

Comparisons of candidates in a possible second round further show the popularity of others, such as Kirill Budanov — with 33% of decided voters ready to support him and 32.5% for Zelensky.

Meanwhile, a notable 19.7% of respondents are undecided, and 14.8% said they would not participate in voting if elections were held soon.

Even more interesting is the scenario involving alternative candidates: nearly 45% of Ukrainians are ready to vote for Zaluzhny in a second round, while 22% favor Budanov.

Zelensky remains a leader in the first round with 30.3%, followed by Zaluzhny with 28.5%.

Petro Poroshenko ranks third with 7.6%.

The supporting percentages for other candidates are smaller but reflect consistent voter support.

These figures indicate shifts in the political landscape and a high level of public interest in the upcoming electoral processes, highlighting the complex and dynamic nature of Ukraine’s political arena.
