Orban launches petition campaign against EU war plans concerning Ukraine

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has initiated a broad signature collection campaign among Hungarian citizens to voice strong opposition to what he calls the ‘Brussels war plan’ for supporting Ukraine amidst its conflict with Russia.

Orban believes that Europe is heading toward a dangerous and potentially devastating war and urges the Hungarian people to express their stance on this issue.

On his Facebook page, he announced that in the coming weeks, they will begin a nationwide effort to inform every Hungarian that peace and stability are more important than external pressures or directives.

He emphasized that the Hungarian government does not want to participate in the war and opposes any military aid suggested by Brussels, pointing out rising tensions and what he describes as an ‘information-legal war’ aiming to discredit Hungary’s position.

The upcoming parliamentary elections in Hungary, just months away, are marked by a vehement anti-war and anti-Ukrainian rhetoric, raising concerns internationally.

Recent statements by Orban about alleged Ukrainian intelligence infiltration, particularly targeting a party called ‘Tisza,’ have further heightened tensions between the countries.

Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded by dismissing these claims as baseless and noted that such accusations only escalate the diplomatic friction, reaffirming Ukraine’s non-involvement in Hungary’s internal affairs.
