NABU Responds to Kasyanov’s Statement and His Request for Witness Protection

Chas Pravdy - 12 October 2025 12:20

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) officially responded to Yuriy Kasyanov’s statement regarding his desire to receive protection as a witness in the ongoing investigation related to the Fire Point company.

In a comment for ZN.UA, NABU representatives confirmed that in September of this year, following a series of publications in the media and Kasyanov’s own appeal, he was interrogated within one of the criminal proceedings initiated in early 2025.

Concerning his request for protection, especially due to potential threats to his life and health, investigative authorities have already taken steps to clarify the circumstances.

According to NABU officials, they summoned the witness through the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine for additional investigative actions, and if necessary, they plan to request intervention from the military ombudsperson and other relevant bodies in accordance with legislation.

On Sunday, October 12, Yuriy Kasyanov stated that he is a whistleblower and key witness in the case involving Fire Point, and he believes this was the primary reason for the liquidation of the unit he established.

The military officer is requesting NABU to ensure protection for himself and his family under the witness protection program.

He also reported that his health is deteriorating and fears that he may not be allowed to leave alive.
