Zelensky reveals the fear behind Putin’s hesitation to cease fire: the pressure necessary to end the war
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has issued a significant declaration concerning the internal motivations of the Russian leadership amid the ongoing war, which has now lasted over a year.
According to him, Russian President Vladimir Putin personally fears ignoring the possibility of a ceasefire, as returning to active hostilities after a brief pause would be incredibly challenging and risky for him.
Zelensky pointed out that for Putin’s regime, ending the war is highly difficult both economically and politically, because it would lead to increased internal dissatisfaction and threaten the Kremlin’s status quo on the global stage.
He also emphasized that Putin is currently under pressure from various external and internal factors, and his fear of losing control in a situation where Ukraine and its allies are actively increasing their efforts keeps him from making decisions to cease fire.
Zelensky expressed confidence that peace can be achieved through intensified pressure on Russia, which includes sustained sanctions, strong military actions, and continued diplomatic efforts.
He believes that a combination of these measures will compel Putin to reconsider his tactics and seek diplomatic solutions to avoid further destruction.
