According to recent independent research conducted by Pew Research Center, the majority of U.S.

citizens believe that former President Donald Trump is attempting to consolidate and expand his power far more than his predecessors in the Oval Office.

The survey reveals that 69% of respondents think Trump is striving to exert greater influence, with nearly half (49%) perceiving this as detrimental to the country and its democratic institutions.

Only 2% believe that Trump uses less authority than previous presidents, while 7% remain uncertain about his actions.

The findings highlight the ambivalence surrounding Trump’s leadership style: 39% of Americans agree that his governance improves government performance, whereas 59% disagree.

Additionally, 38% see Trump as managing with transparency and openness, with 60% holding a contrary view.

The survey also touches on personal conflicts and scandals: 66% think he used his position to punish critics and manipulate opponents, while about a third believe he did not.

Among the notable allegations are accusations of corruption and misuse of power for personal gain, with many fearing Trump might have improperly used his authority for enriching himself and his close circle.

Recent studies indicate that roughly 75% of Americans rate the country’s economic conditions as poor or only moderate, and nearly 70% believe the economy is heading in the wrong direction.

Overall, Trump’s approval rating hovers around 44%, according to various polls, reflecting a tense and polarized political climate in the United States at this time.
