CEC extends Tatiana Chornovol’s registration period for another year due to military service
The Central Election Commission of Ukraine has made a decision to extend the period for submitting documents for the registration of Member of Parliament Tatiana Chornovol for an additional year, surprising many political observers.
This move was prompted by her service in the Security and Defense Forces, which prevented her from submitting the required paperwork within the usual 20-day window.
According to the decision posted on the commission’s Facebook page, on September 18, the CEC already recognized Chornovol as elected, filling the seat left vacant by the murdered Andriy Parubiy in the Verkhovna Rada, who was tragically killed in Lviv.
However, on October 6, Chornovol requested an extension of the registration deadline, which was granted until October 6, 2026, considering her military obligations.
Her inability to submit documents on time was due to these exceptional circumstances.
It is also worth recalling that Parubiy was shot dead on August 30 in Lviv, and suspect Mikhail Tselnikov was detained on the night of September 1 in Khmelnytskyi region.
