Moldovan Socialists Threaten Protests if Constitutional Court Approves Election Results

Chas Pravdy - 08 October 2025 11:32

Tensions rise again in Moldova as the political landscape faces uncertainty over the possible ratification of recent parliamentary election results by the Constitutional Court.

The Moldovan Party of Socialists (PCRM) has openly announced plans to protest if the Court recognizes the legitimacy of the vote conducted last month.

Vice-chairman Vlad Batrincha highlighted during an interview with TV8 that the electoral process was marred by numerous violations, including the misuse of administrative resources, which he claims undermine the fairness of the election.

He urged the Court to carefully review the evidence and, based on the violations found, refuse to confirm the election outcomes.

Batrincha assured that the Socialists would continue their fight on international platforms, in the streets, and in Parliament — by all available means — to achieve justice.

Meanwhile, the recent election results show that President Maia Sandu’s party received over 50% of the votes, with the opposition party “Party of Action and Solidarity” (PAS) securing around 24%.

Second place was taken by the “Patriotic Bloc” with 24.17%, led by pro-Russian former president Igor Dodon.

Other parties entering Parliament include the “Alternative” bloc with 7.96%, “Our Party” with 6.20%, and “Démocratie Chez Soi” with 5.62%.

These elections proved crucial for Moldova’s future course, as Parliament shapes both domestic policy and foreign strategies.

The campaign was accompanied by disinformation, fake news, and attempts at destabilization, reflecting the complex geopolitical situation Moldova faces.

The election outcomes mark both a victory and a warning for pro-European forces striving for stability and democracy amid persistent internal and external pressures.
