Ukrainian President Zelensky Announces Measures to Stabilize Gas Prices for Citizens
The Ukrainian government is set to make a decisive move in the near future by establishing a fixed price for natural gas for the population, aiming to alleviate financial burdens and ensure stability in the energy sector.
President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this during a visit to the Cabinet of Ministers, where he discussed various issues with Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, including Ukraine’s response to Russian shelling and the state of energy infrastructure.
Zelensky highlighted that the government has already allocated an additional 1.5 billion hryvnias to protect energy facilities in regions most affected by hostilities, and has created a reserve of equipment for rapid recovery of energy supplies if necessary.
One key topic was the situation in the gas sector, specifically increasing gas reserves and measures to supply citizens with energy resources.
Furthermore, the president revealed that the government plans to approve a resolution that will lock in the gas price, enabling Ukrainians to pay a stable rate in the upcoming months.
Zelensky also shared that he convened a National Security and Defense Council meeting to discuss energy protection measures against potential strikes by Russia, and confirmed that all financial requests from oblast leaders hardest hit by shelling have been fulfilled.
These steps represent an important move to ensure energy security amid ongoing conflict and Russian aggression.
