Changes in State Social Assistance from October 1: New Opportunities for Vulnerable Populations

Chas Pravdy - 04 October 2025 05:13

Starting from October 1, Ukraine has implemented significant changes in the social assistance system aimed at the most vulnerable groups of citizens.

The range of individuals eligible for basic social aid, introduced earlier this year in July, has been expanded.

The Main Department of the Pension Fund of Ukraine in the Poltava region announced that from this date, not only those who previously received aid can apply, but also new categories of citizens, including those who are not entitled to a pension and are receiving government social support, as well as persons with disabilities.

This initiative is designed to alleviate financial burdens and improve social protection for the most vulnerable segments of the population.

The amount of basic assistance is determined individually, depending on family income and composition, but generally set at 4,500 UAH.

Various factors influence the calculation, such as the number of children, disability status, and employment history.

Applications can be submitted either in person at any Pension Fund Service Center or online through the «Diia» portal, which simplifies the process and provides greater convenience for applicants.
