Sweden Announces Major Humanitarian Support to Ukraine Amid Approaching Winter

Chas Pravdy - 29 September 2025 20:27

The international community reaffirms its support for Ukraine during these challenging times.

This time, Sweden commits nearly 100 million euros to provide humanitarian aid and reconstruction efforts in Ukraine.

Under the new assistance package, totaling approximately 1.1 billion Swedish kronor, the Swedish government aims to enhance efforts to rebuild infrastructure, energy systems, and housing, while also supporting healthcare, demining activities, and internally displaced persons amidst the winter season.

These funds will also help improve the functioning of Ukrainian media outlets.

According to the Swedish embassy in Ukraine, the financing will be evenly distributed across various humanitarian and recovery projects, helping Ukraine better prepare for the harsh winter conditions.

Additionally, in a military context, Ukraine is expecting to receive Swedish fourth-generation Gripen fighter jets, which will significantly bolster Ukraine’s strategic capabilities in countering aggression.

Notably, Sweden was the first EU country to allocate substantial funds through the Ukraine Facility mechanism, aiding Ukraine with salary and pension payments, which are crucial during wartime.
