Parliamentary elections are currently taking place in Moldova, with preliminary results showing the pro-European party ‘Action and Solidarity’ (PAS) in the lead.

According to the Central Electoral Commission, over 84% of ballots have been counted, and voter turnout has exceeded half a million votes out of nearly 1.9 million registered citizens.

Early data indicate that nearly 45% of voters have supported the main contender, Maia Sandu and her team, giving her significant influence in forming the future government and defining the country’s political course.

The pro-Russian ‘Patriotic Electoral Bloc’ holds second place with approximately 28%.

Other political forces have also garnered notable support: ‘Alternative’ with 8%, ‘Democracy at Home’ with 6%, and ‘Our Party’, known for its Eurosceptic stance, also secured 6%.

In total, over 1.5 million Moldovan citizens participated in the voting, which accounts for more than 50% of registered voters.

These elections are crucial for determining Moldova’s internal policies and external orientation.

Earlier, in the 2024 presidential elections, Maia Sandu narrowly won, also warning about potential Russian interference aimed at influencing the parliamentary results.

Experts emphasize that these elections will shape Moldova’s future trajectory, including its integration into the European Union or remaining under Russian influence.
