Government Supports Young Doctors: One-time Assistance of 200,000 UAH for Newly Graduated Medical Professionals

Chas Pravdy - 29 September 2025 06:08

Ukraine is actively implementing measures to incentivize young medical practitioners who completed their internship this year and intend to work in rural areas or territories affected by active hostilities.

At the initiative of the Ministry of Health, each such doctor is eligible to receive a one-time financial aid of 200,000 hryvnias.

This significant step aims to increase the attractiveness of working in hard-to-reach and war-affected regions, as well as to support young professionals willing to serve in challenging conditions.

The procedure for obtaining this assistance is clearly regulated by an order from the Ministry of Health and remains valid until martial law is lifted, with potential for extension.

To receive the payment, a doctor must find a vacancy on the Unified Medical Vacancy Portal for healthcare workers, posted by state or municipal healthcare facilities located in villages or zones of active combat.

After selecting a vacancy, they need to contact the chosen medical institution and verify that the staffing level does not exceed 75%, and that the facility is ready to sign a minimum three-year employment contract.

If these conditions are met, the doctor signs a long-term contract, and the facility issues a letter confirming compliance with the placement and staffing requirements.

It is important that the vacancy is posted on the portal at the time of employment registration.

For assistance, documents must be submitted to the higher education institution where the internship was completed, including an application, a confirmation letter from the healthcare facility, copies of diploma and qualification certificate, employment verification documents, and a copy of the employment agreement.

These documents must be submitted by October 10, 2025.

The payment is made before the end of the fiscal year, with exceptions for early termination or force majeure circumstances, in which case repayment is not required.

This initiative marks a substantial effort by the Ukrainian government to support young doctors, especially in regions affected by war, providing them with an opportunity to start their careers with financial backing.
