Almost 80% of Britons disapprove of Prime Minister Starmer’s leadership: survey indicates record low approval ratings
According to recent polling data, the support for Britain’s Prime Minister Kier Starmer has plunged to an unprecedented low, signaling a deep crisis of public trust in the country’s top government official.
The Ipsos survey reveals that only 13% of respondents approve of his performance, while a significant 79% express dissatisfaction.
This results in a net approval rating of minus 66 percent, surpassing previous negative records.
The former Conservative leader Rishi Sunak previously held a negative approval record of minus 59% in April 2024.
Meanwhile, the political climate is further complicated by the declining popularity of the Labour Party, led by Starmer, which is now supported by only 22% of voters.
Conversely, 34% favor Reform UK, led by Nigel Farage, who has also gained media attention for his controversial statements.
Notably, 53% of Labour Party members desire a new leader before the next elections, with only 31% favoring Starmer’s continued leadership until that time.
Analysts highlight that these results reflect significant challenges faced by the Prime Minister, especially amid his recent campaign activities, including a visit to Liverpool for a Labour Party conference.
Forecasts suggest coalition support might shift, with Reform UK potentially gaining 311 seats in Parliament, while Labour’s support could be reduced to 144.
An interesting poll indicates that populist Nigel Farage might become the next British Prime Minister.
Previously, Farage has publicly stated that Ukraine should join NATO and criticized Donald Trump for giving Russian President Vladimir Putin too much leverage in peace negotiations.
