Former Member of the European Parliament Admits to Corruption for Pro-Russian Support

News of political scandals across Europe continue to spark concern and unrest among the public.

Nathan Gill, a former Member of the European Parliament representing the UK and leader of Reform UK in Wales, has pleaded guilty in court to charges of abusing his office and accepting illicit payments for pro-Russian statements.

According to court documents, he participated in corrupt schemes, receiving funds between January 2018 and July 2019, likely to exert pressure and shape policies favorable to Russia.

The investigation intensified after authorities recovered his phone, revealing evidence of transfers and agreements with pro-Russian entities.

Gill denies conspiracy charges alongside Ukrainian politician Oleh Voloshyn but confirms that the payments he received were in exchange for parliamentary questions and requests, especially aimed at supporting pro-Russian factions amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.

The court emphasized that the politician agreed to accept money for specific actions, such as posing questions, organizing meetings with officials, and making public statements—activities that helped promote Kremlin interests within Europe.
