Zelensky Warns of Firm Response if Hungarian Drones Repeatedly Enter Ukrainian Airspace

Chas Pravdy - 26 September 2025 21:46

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has issued a stern warning that Ukrainian military forces will respond decisively if drones from Hungary once again violate Ukrainian airspace.

During the latest Supreme Commander Staff meeting, he assigned the military to conduct a thorough investigation into the unidentified drones recorded near the Ukrainian-Hungarian border.

Zelensky highlighted that Ukrainian troops have already detected the first instances of reconnaissance drones — unusual unmanned aerial vehicles whose suspicious behavior and unclear intentions raise significant concerns. He emphasized that in case of recurring incidents, the Ukrainian command will act promptly and resolutely to defend the country’s sovereignty and security.

The president noted that Ukraine currently leads Europe in drone defense capabilities and is prepared to share its expertise with other nations facing similar threats.Prior to this, Zelensky received information from Ukraine’s Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, about a possible flight of Hungarian drones into Ukrainian airspace.

However, the Hungarian government denies these claims: Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó rudely dismisses any accusations regarding Hungary’s involvement in dangerous flights over Ukraine, which only heightens diplomatic tensions. The threatening rhetoric from Zelensky and his decisive stance on defense issues underscore the seriousness of the situation and the readiness to respond to any unexpected developments, as any new attempt to breach borders will not go unanswered and will be met with firm military action.
