Zelensky Outlines Conditions for Possible Ceasefire and Future Territorial Negotiations Amid War
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently made a public statement regarding the conditions under which Ukraine might agree to a so-called ‘frozen conflict’ regime.
According to him, if tomorrow an agreement on a ceasefire is reached, Ukraine is willing to support such a regime provided that all occupied territories are returned through diplomatic means in the future.
This means that the country will not make any territorial concessions now but opens the possibility of returning its lands via negotiations when appropriate political and diplomatic mechanisms are in place.
Zelensky emphasized that any further developments should consider Ukraine’s interests and result in fewer losses for the population, stressing the importance of dialogue.
During an interview with Axios, he pointed out that discussions on territorial return can only happen if both sides are seriously prepared, viewing this as a potential compromise.
At the same time, the president warned about preserving the country’s defensive capabilities, considering recent military actions and tactical changes in the region, especially in the north of Russia, where invaders have suffered setbacks and are regrouping.
The analysis indicates that Ukrainian forces have successfully thwarted several large-scale enemy offensives and prevented full-scale advancement.
This suggests that Ukraine’s military efforts continue to increase, and defenders are preparing for new tactical challenges ahead of the autumn campaigns. The core idea remains the pursuit of diplomatic resolution, but also preparation for possible escalation through military means.
Zelensky highlighted the importance of maintaining unity and international support, acting strictly according to international law to protect Ukraine’s interests.
Overall, the situation remains complex, but Ukrainian leadership emphasizes the importance of safeguarding sovereignty and security regardless of how developments unfold.
