President Volodymyr Zelensky, in his daily address, placed special emphasis on the importance of gradually expanding the contractual service within Ukraine’s Armed Forces.

During the recent National Defense Council meeting, he instructed to strengthen this initiative, highlighting that the contractual component should become a key element in ensuring the mobility and combat effectiveness of the military.

According to the president, this step forms the foundation for the stable development of the defense sector by attracting more professional soldiers and reducing reliance on conscription reserves.Furthermore, Zelensky reported that during the council, reports were presented by Ukraine’s foreign intelligence and military intelligence agencies regarding Russian-produced weaponry, the overall industrial situation, and the state of the country’s fuel and energy complex.

Based on this intelligence, new tasks were outlined to enhance national defense.Discussing the international situation, Zelensky noted that the world now recognizes Russia’s transition into a phase where the ongoing war threatens its economy and society itself.

He emphasized that sanctions, trade restrictions, and measures to close schemes from which Russia profits are expected to yield concrete results.

“The critical issue — is not to ease pressure on Russia.

On the contrary, sanctions and actions should make life even more difficult for the Russian system,” Zelensky stated.Earlier, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Rustem Umerov, announced that the upcoming National Defense Council meeting scheduled for Friday would also consider new conditions concerning contractual service for young military personnel aged 18-24, demonstrating a systematic approach to strengthening the country’s defense capabilities.
