Tigran Keosayan: Russian propagandist and his anti-Ukrainian statements — recent facts and consequences
On September 26, the family of the well-known Russian propagandist Tigran Keosayan announced his death after several months in a coma.
This news shocked both his relatives and the wider public, as Keosayan was a key figure in Russia’s information war against Ukraine.
Over the years, he actively spread disinformation, anti-Ukrainian myths, and calls for the use of nuclear weapons in the conflict.Throughout his career, Keosayan dedicated himself to propaganda programs on Russian TV channels, notably on NTV, where he repeatedly denied Ukraine’s independence, claiming that Donbas and Crimea are part of Russia, and Kyiv was targeted for aggression.
His rhetoric was filled with calls for harsh actions, including nuclear strikes against Kyiv.Regarding his ideological stance, he openly expressed his anti-Ukrainian sentiments and threats of potential occupation of Ukraine.
This was all part of his program «International Sawmill,» broadcast on Russian television.
In the show, he emphasized that the war with Ukraine was a «brutal and inhumane» reality and called for maximum preparedness and offensive actions. For his activities, Keosayan was included in sanctions lists by the European Union, Great Britain, Canada, and Australia.
As early as 2021, Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs initiated a ban on his entry to the country due to his active role in spreading disinformation and posing a threat to national security. It is also noteworthy that in Armenia, radio Sputnik, where Keosayan worked, lost its license due to his open support for Russia’s policies in Ukraine.
His activities contributed to exacerbating the conflict and fueling hostility among the Ukrainian population, which has significant regional consequences.
