Farewell to Russian Propagandist Tigran Keosayan: A Look into His Life and Last Days
On the night of September 25 to 26, news broke about the death of Tigran Keosayan, a well-known Russian television presenter and prominent propagandist whose career spanned many years in the Russian media landscape.
According to his wife, Margarita Simonyan, the chief editor of RT and a leading voice in Kremlin propaganda, Keosayan passed away peacefully.
She shared on her Telegram channel: “Tonight, Tigran has gone to the Creator.
Thank you all for your prayers and support during this difficult time.
Please refrain from calling his family now; we appreciate your understanding and support.” This news prompted widespread discussion among media professionals and political analysts, as earlier reports indicated that Keosayan was in a coma, having survived a clinical death and struggled with heart issues.
Telegram channels like Baza reported that he had been in a coma since mid-December 2024, raising questions about his career and influence.
Tigran Keosayan was known as the creator and host of propaganda TV shows that significantly shaped public opinion in Russia.
His activities were restricted — he was under sanctions from the European Union, the UK, and Canada, and in 2022, he was barred from entering Kazakhstan due to language-related issues.
That same year, his YouTube channels were removed.
His death raises questions about the future of Russian propaganda and the role of such personalities in Russia’s information landscape.
