Ukrainian Security Service Denies Political Pressure and Affirms Legality of Railway Company Raids

Chas Pravdy - 25 September 2025 11:16

The reports of raids on the leadership of «Ukrzaliznytsia» sparked speculations about possible political pressure on Ukraine’s independent anti-corruption agencies.

However, the Security Service of Ukraine officially announced that these investigative actions are solely part of a criminal investigation related to abuse in the freight transportation sector and are not politically motivated.

According to SBU representatives, all searches were authorized by the court and carried out in accordance with Ukrainian law, without violating citizens’ rights and freedoms.

They emphasized that the scope of the investigation involves only the individuals directly connected to the criminal case — employees of «Ukrzaliznytsia» and private entrepreneurs suspected of misconduct — and are in no way aimed at discrediting or pressuring anti-corruption institutions.

It is also highlighted that railway transportation plays a vital role in ensuring the country’s logistics, including security operations, supply of weapons, and cargo delivery to the front.

Authorities condemn any abuse in this sphere, considering it a threat to national security and defense capability.
