Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers Increases Salaries for Medical Workers in Frontline Regions to Strengthen the Healthcare Front

Chas Pravdy - 25 September 2025 21:25

The Ukrainian government has taken a significant step towards improving working conditions for medical professionals operating in zones of active hostilities and areas with increased risk to life.

This decision responds to the growing need to ensure the stability and functionality of the healthcare system under the most challenging wartime conditions.

Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko announced that after a working trip to Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions, new salary standards for medical staff have been approved: doctors will receive 40,000 hryvnias per month, mid-level medical personnel 27,000 hryvnias, and junior staff 18,000 hryvnias.

For those working in zones of possible hostilities, reduced rates will be applied: 28,000, 18,000, and 9,000 hryvnias, respectively.

In addition to salary increases, the government approved several other crucial measures, including allocating land to temporarily displaced persons’ (IDPs) housing at a preferential rate of 1 hryvnia per square meter, and public and charitable organizations will acquire land at 3% of its value.

Significant funds have been allocated for fortification constructions in Sumy region — 333 million hryvnias, and 96 million hryvnias for water supply development in Dnipropetrovsk.

From the state’s reserve fund, 128 million hryvnias will go toward restoring critical infrastructure in Dnipropetrovsk, with an additional 58 million aimed at repairing an emergency section of the Second Donets Water Supply.

Subventions have been distributed to local budgets for arranging shelters in military lyceums and schools with enhanced military training.

Furthermore, a moratorium on disconnecting water and electricity for debts in frontline areas is being prepared, which will ensure continuous access to vital infrastructure for residents in these zones.
