NABU Reports New Security Service Searches on Former Employees, Indicating Growing Pressure on Anti-Corruption Agencies
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) has once again drawn public attention due to reports of recent searches conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
On the morning of Thursday, September 25th, security officers carried out searches targeting former NABU employees, who are now employed at Ukrzaliznytsia, the state railway company.
According to NABU, these actions are likely linked to investigations previously carried out by these individuals while working within investigative groups that aimed to uncover organized criminal networks within state enterprises and government agencies, including the SBU itself.
The bureau emphasized that such searches and their character could be indicative of systemic pressure aimed at undermining the independence of anti-corruption institutions.
This development raises concerns about the politicization of law enforcement bodies and the potential stifling of efforts to fight corruption.
NABU calls for safeguarding the independence of law enforcement agencies, warning against political interference that threatens the integrity of investigations and the broader anti-corruption agenda, which is essential for the country’s stability and democratic development.
