After Charlie Kirk’s murder: Italy increases security for Prime Minister Meloni and her deputies

Following the tragic event that shook American society — the killing of well-known conservative activist Charlie Kirk in Utah — Italian authorities swiftly decided to strengthen the security measures for the country’s top leadership.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and her vice premiers received the highest level of protection after allegations of political violence were directed at Italy.

According to sources from La Repubblica newspaper citing Interior Ministry officials, a special circular was issued, which involves reviewing existing security protocols for key political figures, including Meloni, Foreign Minister Antonio Taya, and Infrastructure Minister Matteo Salvini.

Taya stated during a briefing that the security level for the three leaders has been elevated to the highest — involving two to three armored vehicles with three agents each.

When asked by journalists, Taya commented: “The atmosphere isn’t the most peaceful.

I urge everyone to stay calm.

My words did not offend anyone.” Since coming to power in 2022, Italy’s premier and her deputies have been protected at the second security level.

The escalation now means that these top officials will be moving around in multiple armored cars with several security officers.

Recall that on September 10 in Utah, during a public speech, Charlie Kirk was shot and killed — one of the most prominent conservative activists in the US and founder of Turning Point USA.

This incident received broad media coverage and sparked widespread social resonance, with Donald Trump’s administration using it as a reason to accuse Democrats of political violence and repression.
