Zelensky Announces Military Operation in Response to Russia’s Attacks on Ukrainian Infrastructure

Chas Pravdy - 17 September 2025 20:25

Amid heightened international attention and public concern, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky publicly announced the launch of a targeted military operation aimed at countering Russia’s ongoing missile strikes on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure.

According to Zelensky, Russia continues to systematically attack civilian objects, including energy facilities and railway hubs, with the strategic goal of weakening Ukraine and sowing chaos in its logistical network.

The Ukrainian defense forces reportedly carried out several retaliatory operations, one of which lasted two months and achieved significant results.

Zelensky emphasized that these actions garnered widespread public resonance within Russia, where disruptions to key routes and targets indicated a tangible impact of Ukraine’s countermeasures.

The Ukrainian leader stressed the importance of precise, cautious responses designed to protect civilian lives while simultaneously undermining Russia’s plans to destabilize Ukrainian logistics—plans that could potentially trigger internal unrest even within Russia itself.

He pointed out the preparations both Ukraine and Russia are undertaking for the upcoming heating season, each side mobilizing resources accordingly.

The situation has also affected civilian and international flights, as Russian attacks on railway infrastructure prompted «Ukrzaliznytsia» to reroute routes to bypass damaged sites.

The bridge over the Dnipro in Kremenchuk was hit on September 7, causing delays in rail transport, though vehicle traffic was quickly restored.

The Ukrainian government continues to adapt to the evolving challenges posed by the ongoing conflict.
