President of the European Parliament Visits Kyiv: EU Prioritizes Support for Ukraine
On Wednesday, September 17, the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv, welcomed the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola.
She announced on her social media platform X (Twitter) that she had arrived on an official visit, emphasizing the importance of this event for Ukrainian-European relations.
Metsola stated, “Next stop: Kyiv,” indicating that her visit is part of active diplomatic efforts to support Ukraine during these challenging times.
Ukrainian MP from the Holos faction, Yaroslav Zheleznyak, reported that Metsola would deliver a much-anticipated speech in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, highlighting the significance of ongoing cooperation.
This visit is yet another demonstration that Ukraine’s support remains a top priority for the EU.
Metsola underlined that aid to Ukraine, particularly in security and reforms, is not charity but a strategic measure of self-preservation for European stability and security.
On September 3, UK Defence Minister Ben Wallace visited Ukraine, which further signals solidarity and regional stabilization efforts.
Additionally, during her speech at the European Council, Metsola supported initiating negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova regarding their accession to the European Union, stressing the critical importance of sustained active support and future integration prospects for the Ukrainian people.
This confirms that the EU is committed not only to crisis relief but also to strategic long-term cooperation and Ukraine’s potential EU accession.
