Presidential Meeting with ‘Servant of the People’ Deputies: Discussions on War, Security, and the Future of Ukraine

Chas Pravdy - 16 September 2025 20:26

A significant meeting took place at the Office of the President of Ukraine with representatives of the ‘Servant of the People’ faction, lasting over an hour and a half.

The main topics discussed included the situation at the frontlines, internal political issues, and strategies for overcoming the current crisis.

According to sources in parliament, about 150 deputies participated in the event, although some could not attend due to other commitments such as consultations on the 2026 budget or being on business trips abroad.

During the meeting, President Volodymyr Zelensky warned lawmakers that if the situation on the front deteriorates, Ukraine might face difficult and unpopular decisions impacting national security and the country’s stability.

They also discussed the protection of internally displaced persons, the work of government agencies during wartime, security guarantees for Ukraine, and preparations for peace negotiations.

It was agreed to hold another meeting from October 6 to 10 to continue these discussions.

Regarding the war, the president emphasized that as long as the front line remains stable, Ukraine has a chance to negotiate favorable peace terms, although the final decision ultimately lies with the Verkhovna Rada and the government.

Additionally, representatives discussed legislative initiatives concerning NABU, SAP, and the ‘perpetual PEP’ law.

Deputies expressed concerns about potential legislative weakening to European standards and agreed to revisit these issues in October.

The meeting was conducted in a Q&A format, fostering open dialogue between lawmakers and the president on Ukraine’s key challenges and possible solutions.
