Olga Stefanishyna Officially Begins Her Diplomatic Mission as Ukraine’s New Ambassador to the United States
On September 15th, Olga Stefanishyna officially completed all formalities and took up her duties as the new Ukrainian ambassador to the United States, marking a significant milestone in her diplomatic career.
This important event took place amid special circumstances – since her appointment and her start of work, she has consistently emphasized the importance of remembrance for Ukraine’s defenders.
During a minute of silence held by her and the embassy team, she paid tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for Ukraine’s independence.
She highlighted that their heroism remains the driving force behind her ongoing diplomatic efforts to defend Ukraine’s sovereignty, strengthen international partnerships, and strive for a durable peace.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed her appointment decree on August 27th, prior to which she served as the special envoy of the head of state for US cooperation and possesses extensive experience in European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
Her predecessor, Oksana Markarova, led the Ukrainian embassy in the United States since February 2021.
Now, Stefanishyna aims to bolster even stronger relations between Ukraine and the US and to support the process of achieving lasting, just peace in Ukraine.
