Drone Intrusion Over Warsaw: Polish Authorities Neutralize UAV Near Government Buildings and Presidential Residence
An alarming incident unfolded in Warsaw when security services detected and neutralized an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) flying dangerously close to key government facilities and the presidential residence.
According to Polish law enforcement sources, early Monday morning, a drone was spotted encroaching upon restricted airspace around the city, prompting immediate action.
Specialized units from Poland’s security services successfully intercepted and disarmed the drone in the vicinity of Parkowa Street, near Belvedere Palace – one of the official residences of the Polish president.During the operation, two individuals of Belarusian origin were detained, suspected of controlling the drone.
Authorities have not released detailed information about the incident, citing ongoing investigations to determine all circumstances involved. This incident comes amidst heightened tensions following last week’s reports of a nearly twenty-strong swarm of Russian drones crossing borders from Ukraine and Belarus into Polish airspace.
These breaches have escalated concerns over regional security and prompted NATO to implement strategic measures. In response, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced the launch of a new mission called “Eastern Sentinel,” aimed at fortifying the eastern flank of the alliance.
As of September 13, this operation has been officially activated in Poland to bolster defense capabilities and deter further provocations.
