Disrespect for Ukrainian sovereignty: MFA responds to Lukashenko’s meeting with collaborator Saldo
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has strongly condemned the recent meeting between Belarusian self-proclaimed President Alexander Lukashenko and collaborator Vladimir Saldo, which took place in Minsk.
The agency characterized this event as a demonstration of blatant disregard for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Officials emphasized that such actions represent yet another sign of disrespect toward the Ukrainian nation and its statehood.
According to spokespersons, Lukashenko openly expressed a favorable attitude toward the occupied territories of Kherson region, calling them ‘new regions’ of Russia and expressing readiness to facilitate Russian occupation and boost trade with the occupiers.
These developments raise serious concerns about further escalation of tensions in the region.
The MFA reminded the international community that the Soviet Union is a thing of the past, and Ukraine remains a united, independent country striving for European and global integration.
The visit of Lukashenko to Minsk on September 15, where he met with Russian collaborator Saldo, further amplified Kyiv’s discontent.
Ukrainian diplomats stress that such actions lack any legal validity and support occupation regimes, contradicting international law.
The MFA insists on non-recognition of any so-called ‘new regions’ seized through aggression and reminds the global community about Ukraine’s unwavering stance on its territorial integrity.
They call on the international community to respond strongly to such provocations and reaffirm Ukraine’s commitment to defending its independence and sovereign borders at all international forums.
