Zelensky Strikes Russian Oil Facilities: Major Damage to Baltic Ports and Strengthening Ukrainian Capabilities

Chas Pravdy - 14 September 2025 20:23

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made a high-profile statement regarding recent successes of Ukrainian intelligence and sabotage forces against Russia.

According to him, Ukrainian special forces successfully inflicted significant damage on one of Russia’s largest oil terminals in Primorsk, located on the Baltic Sea.

This achievement was made possible thanks to their high professionalism and precise strikes on key components of Russia’s oil infrastructure.

Zelensky also emphasized that Ukraine does not limit itself to this — Ukrainian forces are closely monitoring the Ust-Luga port, another critical route for Russian energy exports to the global market. In his address, he highlighted that sanctions imposed on Russia should be swift and effective — including direct hits on oil terminals and fuel depots.

The President stated that such actions substantially weaken the aggressor’s income and military potential, since Russia’s war effort largely depends on energy exports.

He expressed gratitude to the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) special forces for their precise attack and announced that Ukraine is expanding its missile and drone capabilities, increasing the range and efficiency of its strikes.Zelensky stressed that operational details remain classified, but urged Ukrainians to support their country’s defense efforts, as every new weapon and technological advancement strengthens the ability to restore justice and defeat the enemy.

He also pointed out the crucial role of Ukrainian security services and domestic companies working together to protect national interests, emphasizing that this cooperation is vital for future success. The conflict’s background dates back to September 12, when reports from the Leningrad region in Russia detailed a fire on a vessel at the Primorsk oil port caused by drones.

Ukrainian officials confirmed the attack was carried out by the SBU, targeting critical Russian oil infrastructure, including oil ports and pipelines that supply energy resources worldwide.

This demonstrates Ukraine’s deliberate efforts to strike strategic enemy assets, reinforcing its defensive capabilities and determination to achieve victory.
