Poland Faces Pro-Russian Sentiment Wave: Political Responsibility and Security Threats

Chas Pravdy - 14 September 2025 15:17

Recently, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk raised concerns over a rising wave of pro-Russian sentiments and anti-Ukrainian attitudes within Poland.

According to him, these trends are not spontaneous but are deliberately fueled by Kremlin efforts, which aim to manipulate fears and emotional reactions of the Polish populace.

Such developments pose a serious challenge for Poland’s political class, as their response will determine whether the country can maintain stability and its alliances.

Tusk stressed that politicians must act decisively to contain the spread of pro-Russian propaganda and prevent chaos.

The situation has been further complicated by recent incidents involving Russian drones infiltrating Polish airspace; some were shot down, but the attacks have triggered widespread alarm.

Defense Minister Marco Rubio labeled the incursions unacceptable but highlighted that it remains unclear whether Russia intentionally targeted Poland.

Experts warn that Western inaction could encourage Russia to escalate its provocations, posing a direct threat to NATO members’ security.

Observers note that Moscow will monitor the reactions of Western allies, as weakness and hesitation would only embolden Vladimir Putin’s ambitions.

An analysis by Petro Herasymenko in his article “Russian ‘kamikaze’ drones over Poland: Kremlin’s strategic goals” explores Russia’s possible hidden aims and the broader consequences for Europe and Ukraine.
