Baerbock expresses support for UN peacekeeping forces deployment in Ukraine after the conflict

Germany’s former Foreign Minister and current President of the UN General Assembly, Annalena Baerbock, has articulated her perspective on the potential deployment of UN peacekeeping troops within Ukraine.

According to her, such an initiative is entirely feasible and timely, especially in the context of securing lasting peace and stabilizing the situation following military hostilities.

She emphasized that deploying peacekeeping forces is not merely a concept but a possible step forward if the majority of UN member states support it.

Baerbock highlighted that peacekeeping missions are more necessary than ever, with their importance growing across Europe and globally.

She added that for permanent peace agreements, effective mechanisms need to be established, with the authorization to use peacekeepers serving as one of these tools.

She suggested that after reaching a peace treaty, consideration should be given to deploying international peacekeeping contingents to ensure long-term stability and security in the region.

This stance aligns with the broader international trend of strengthening the UN’s role in maintaining peace and security amid modern global crises.

Other world leaders are also discussing the possibility of deploying international forces to stabilize Ukraine and ensure its future safety.
