Denmark Announces Its Most Ambitious Support Program for Ukraine with €375 Million Investment

In a significant move to bolster Ukraine’s resilience, Denmark has unveiled its most ambitious aid initiative to date, pledging a record-breaking €375 million to support the Ukrainian people and stabilize the nation.

Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen announced during a press conference in Kyiv the launch of the Ukraine Transition Program — the largest and most ambitious program of its kind in Danish history.

Its primary goal is to enhance Ukraine’s capacity to withstand and recover from urgent challenges, ensuring the resilience of its infrastructure and society over the course of three years.

The program focuses on three main areas: supporting early recovery and resilience, improving energy security and transitioning to green energy, and developing energy sector institutions.

Recent reports also indicate that Denmark’s contribution under the so-called ‘Danish model’—covering costs related to weapons manufacturing by Ukrainian defense enterprises—will reach approximately 1.4 billion euros this year.

Additionally, Denmark, along with Norway and Sweden, plans to allocate around 500 million dollars (about 5 billion Norwegian kroner) within NATO’s joint initiative to supply Ukraine with American weaponry.

Recently, thanks to Danish support, Ukraine opened the largest underground school and kindergarten in Mykolaiv, where over 700 children will have the opportunity to return to offline learning, a vital step toward restoring infrastructure and ensuring safety for local residents.
