Zelensky compares drone attack on Poland to Russian ‘little green men’ invasion in Crimea, calls for strengthened security
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made a significant statement, drawing parallels between the recent Russian drone attack on Polish territory and the infamous invasion of Crimea by ‘little green men.’ According to his analysis, the flight trajectories of the drones that breached Ukrainian borders and landed in Poland in the night of September 10 indicate a deliberate and well-planned operation, not a random incident.
Zelensky emphasized that this incident bears similarities to the 2014 annexation of Crimea, arguing that the use of drones now functions as a modern substitute for the ‘little green men,’ possibly serving as a rehearsal to test international and regional responses.
He mentioned that some media reports suggest Moscow’s claims over parts of Polish territory, raising alarms globally.
Furthermore, Zelensky announced that Ukraine has proposed a comprehensive joint program with European neighbors focused on funding and manufacturing drone interception systems to bolster defense capabilities.
Poland has already agreed to establish military communication channels to coordinate efforts, with mechanisms for data exchange already in place.
The Ukrainian leader also revealed that Polish President Andrzej Duda was assured of additional military support and the dispatch of troops to reinforce security.
Military officials from both countries are actively discussing technical details to enhance cooperation and counter similar threats in the future.
